Powder Room Remodel..Take 1

The freshly minted house keys have not yet cooled down, we're ready to remodel. LOL. Yep. That's us. We are Self Professed Home Improvement Junkis. We had ordered some of the things from Lowe's when we ordered our Refrigerator and Washer/Dryer before we closed on the house. We did have the option of getting the same from the Builder but we did our research and found that we can get it for much cheaper (almost half) the price outside, and get it installed at a fair rate too. So, that's what we're doing. Our very first remodel.

We have selected the Faucets and accessories too, and will be picking them up this Sunday. (Psst..Lowe's is clearing out it's inventory of a lot of items, so many things will be 50% off this weekend. Check out your store.)

Ok, you want to see pictures of what we've picked, right?

I *need* the Robe Hook in the Powder Room. Every room with a toilet should have a hook. I hate it when I need to put my purse, or coat away, I have to put it outside because there isn't a hook in the room. Hate it. It's my house, I can do what I want here, so there :p LOL

You have to make your new house "home." We're already starting to make plans for home improvements too-painting, a deck in the backyard, tile in the master bath. Go for it, you're right you have to live there, might as well like the place:)

My brother and his wife have the same toilet and sink in their powder room. (They put them in there after not liking the previous owner's choice.)

Your home is so nice!

Basically Jalie blog tour

Basically Jalie Blog Tour - Day 2 (This post has been sponsored by Jalie Patterns. There is  a sewalong, rafflecopter, and amazing prizes to win so keep reading! )  Majority of what I wear are work/business casual outfits and hence that is majority of what I sew. I am always looking for cute woven tops to add to my rotation. I love making tunic tops especially now that I've learned to fit them. I never liked any store bought ill fitting and stiff feeling tops especially button-downs but now that I can make them and make them to fit, it is a whole different story! This blog-tour is for basics and I consider woven tops to be part of my daily basic wardrobe so that is what I made for this blog tour. This is the Rose blouse (Jalie 3881) in a woven crepe fabric I got recently from Sincerely Rylee. The fabric is gorgeous and so easy to work with.  I chose this top because of the bow. Let's be honest, we love blouses with bows! I have never been able to find a perf

Monster Tour

Sewing by Ti - Monster Tour It's October and that means it is time to make your little ones (or big ones!) Halloween costumes! Growing up in India we did not celebrate Halloween so when I first moved to the US and was living in an apartment, I was amazed at all the dress up and trick or treating concept. I made sure to buy tons and tons of candy because we got so many kids coming to our doorstep. While I didn't get into making costumes for me, I love making them for my kids :) My oldest is turning 14 tomorrow(already?!) and is no longer interested in Halloween and that made me a little sad. He says trick or treating is for little kids and I respect his choice in the matter. My 8 year old, however, wanted to dress up as a cat - a cute and cuddly one. She got one! She made an easy choice this year and was very involved in the designing of her costume. She is getting more and more interested in making her doll clothes and comes up with interesting shapes and experimen

Love Notions Lyric Dress

Love Notions Lyric Dress The dress I've been dreaming of is here :) I've wanted a very simple, button-down dress ever since I made the Jessica dress ( blogged here ). Jessica dress is great, but I wanted a full bodice so I don't have to wear a strapless bra. Enter, Love Notions Lyric ! How lovely is this dress? Of course, I had to go with my hoarded mustard rayon challis. I use mustard for A-List patterns. Lyric is one of them. The pattern comes with an A-line skirt and gathered skirt. There are various sleeve options including a very cute bell sleeve. I made the sleeveless version which is finished with a bias tape. Pattern notes: Made my standard petite adjustment by taking out 1" from the bodice and 1" from the skirt. Took in the waist a little. This was a test version and waist was adjusted slightly after this. I made a B cup bodice. I also did a .5" swayback adjustment to the back bodice. From a construction standpoint, I like tha
