Feeling good today.. Thanks for the wishes. I am feeling much better and even had some lunch today (noodles). Throat is hurting much less and I haven't had to take Advil today. I stayed home today because I hadn't been on antibiotics for 24 hrs as of this morning. I'm looking forward to work though as I'm sick of staying home. Ugh. I got to watch the Inauguration of President Obama today. Wow, what a speech. Absolutely blown away. And the crowds, my goodness. All the way from Capitol to the Lincoln Memorial. That is a lot of people! I'm watching the parade right now and every time the reports say 'President' I expect to see Bush! It's weirder for me because ever since I've been in America, I've only seen Bush as President. It's awesome! This is the first transition of power I'm seeing. All these festivities don't get coverage in India for sure.

Strep..I thought it only affected kids Let me start by saying I have excellent immunity. I rarely get sick, and when I do it is just cold or cough. When I was in the doctor's office today, I realized it is my first sick visit in America..EVER! I started getting sore throat on friday night. It was bitter cold and we were working late. My friend S and I offered to pick up dinner for everyone from BajaFresh . I felt this thing in my throat while driving back home that night (at 11PM, mind you). Mehul was sleeping on his bed, DH was also in bed. I just changed and crashed. Saturday morning, left side of my throat was hurting. It was much worse than last night. I had difficulty swallowing. Let me mention that 3 weeks ago, DH had sore throat. He said, at least only one side is hurting for you. His both sides hurt when he was sick. GREAT. This is a competition. Croup? and KarwaChowth Mehul had a low grade fever and trouble breathing last night. His voice became horse and his cough sounded very strange. My instant thought was croup. After some reading this morning, it's almost confirmed. We will take him to the doctor tomorrow as our pediatricians office is closed today. Sadly, there isn't much we can do about it other than try to fix the symptoms. We tried giving him steam but that didn't go very well. He is acting fine and eating well so it can wait till tomorrow. I wasn't well yesterday either. The house is a mess. I don't need anymore illnesses around here, please! Tomorrow is my day-long fast of KarwaChowth. I blogged about this last year . This time there are many Indian neighbors who will be keeping the fast as well, so this should be fun! Last year, when DH took me out looking for the moon, an oncoming car killed a Skunk right in front of us! Please, no smelly killings this time around!

Survived the weekend but I'm not so sure about today. Mehul started having fever last night. I had to take 'Work from home' day and this is NOT a good day for that. There are issues at work that I need to deal with. I returned from the doctor's office about 1 hour ago. He had 101 temperature when the nurse checked him. It keeps going up and down and he's very cranky. She said it's just a virus and will run it's course. I'm just glad it didn't happen over the weekend with everything else. Back to work.. *Updated in the evening* - Well, I had to call DH from work. When M woke up from his afternoon nap, his temperature was around 102, and he was acting like he was going to throw up. I had to call a (work) client in 30 minutes, so I felt like I had no choice. This work was something very important and HAD to be done today. Poor guy was so miserable. More sickness.. Can we please just fast forward to April? I'm tired of being sick and taking care of sick ones. Thankfully, the 2 guys are now on a mend, but I'm still not. In fact, I had to go home early yesterday because the sinus pain was unbearable. And I didn't have any medicine at hand. The right side of my head, sinus cavity and teeth was hurting. Today it's a little better. DH gave me night-time sinus medicine around 4, and I slept until 8. He woke me up for dinner and I watched American Idol. These night time medicines make me loopy. I don't like them. Anyhow, I have to say Fiona's comment made me laugh. I'm telling you, the day this boy turns 17 (or heck 16), I'm going to keep a stick handy. To ward off all the girls. LOL! Ha! The queen of 'I Have Excellent Immunity And I Don't Get Sick' is officially sick. Boo. I hate being sick. My brain is in a fog. Nose is stuffed up and I'm sneezing every 5 seconds. I have had an insane amount of caffeine in the last couple of days to try to focus for work. It's not helping at all, and now I have acidity as a result. Guess I'll have to resort to a cold medicine tonight. I don't take medicine unless it's bad. My cold generally clears up in 7 days by itself so I don't feel the need to treat the symptoms. DH, on the other hand, has been diagnosed with Sinus issues. He saw the doctor today and is taking an antibiotic, along with Sinus OTC medication :( In other news, my scrapping mojo is back! It had gone into hiding for the last week but now it's back! I did 2 layouts last night. I have been itching to start stitching again too. Maybe it'll happen this weekend. Boo Both my guys are sick :( M brought the germs home and DH gladly accepted them. M started coughing last Thursday and it sounded like it was coming from deep inside him, not the regular cough. He also had slight fever two nights in a row. He and DH stayed home Friday and we took him to the Pediatrician that evening. He was already wheezing a little. DH was just starting to get the same on Friday, and it's full blown now. Yesterday was the worst day for him. M didn't sleep well last night and neither did we. I'm so tired. The guys become so needy when they're sick. I'm over it. Please get well soon, the two of you. I feel my throat is starting to itch too. Please No!! When is DH going to develop his immunity? I rarely get sick but he is completely the opposite. Even Mehul is getting better about selecting the germs now. Some are just not worthy of bringing home to the parents. LOL!

Back from the doctors It's more likely to be a stomach virus and it can take up to 2 weeks to completely go away. It's probably the milk that's upsetting his tummy so much. Milk proteins are difficult to digest when you have a virus apparantly. We've switched him to Soy Milk (recommended by the doctor), and thank goodness he likes the taste. He's really resisting food now. He had a banana right after coming back home, wouldn't eat anything for dinner. Had Apple Juice and Soy Milk. He's sleeping now... I'm overwhelmed reading this article Indian Americans and the Killer Belly . I was dead shocked when I learned I had Gestational Diabetes with Mehul. I'm not thin or fat, somewhere in the middle. The article says that on an average, Indians get Diabetes and Heart Disease even when they are 30 pounds lighter and 10 years younger than their American counterparts.
