Zoo Pictures! (AKA Long and Photo intensive post) We made it to the zoo yesterday. The weather co-operated and we had a great time. We deliberately took the Metro to DC instead of driving as Mehul enjoys the ride and is *very* into Trains and Trucks rightnow. Though he wasn't as impressed as I thought he would be. He loves seeing trains approaching from outside, not so much the ride itself. Anyhow, since we were there last year, National Zoo has built the Asia Trail. I think it was opened last September. The Giant Panda trail is a part of it now. They also have Sloth Bears which are quite common in India. This time we saw the Red Panda again. We have gone to the zoo atleast once every year ever since we've lived here in VA, and had only seen the Red Panda once before. Another animal we have only seen once are the Golden Tamarind Monkeys - they still weren't there this time. Mandatory Giant Panda Photo first They are always so far away, it's hard to get a good picture....
Train Park Outing We finally made it to the 'Burke Lake Park'. We call it the Train park. They were closed for the winter and just opened this month. Mehul has so much fun today, he didn't want to come back. It was a little chilly or we'd have stayed for some more time. We were hungry as well. Picked up some chinese on the way back. They have a train ride through the park, a golf course, a lake, hiking trails, carousel, and a playing area for kids from what we saw today. We will certainly be back. Time for pictures! Suddenly Mehul's looking thinner and taller! Growing out of babyhood. Car ride is so exciting! The Train! The Engine! Guys and kids! Mommy and Mehul Smile! Carousel Ride! In the playground!
Really Nice Day, But What Does It Mean? Yesterday was such a nice day here in D.C. We had recordbreaking high temperature. 73F!! Apparantly, the headline in Delhi newspapers was, 22C in Wahington DC, and 4C in Delhi in January! What's going on? We (along with the rest of DC, VA, MD residents) made the most of it. We decided to take Mehul to a petting zoo near our place. We have never been, and (I) got really excited at the sight of Ostrich, Lamas, and many more animals. Got to the gate, and realized it was closed for the season! I can't blame them. It's not usual for people to want to visit the petting zoo in the midde of winter! As we were leaving, we saw atleast 3 cars stop by! Really a bummer. But it's really only 15 minutes from our home, so it's no big deal. We'll certainly go back. So, we decided to go to Great Falls State Park. The Potamic river runs through the middle of it, and forms a sort of waterfall. We just love going there. Saw some people were ha...
