Weekend Recap

Friday (yes, the weekend starts Friday evening): Ran some errands while returning. We were carpooling that day so I picked DH up from his office and then picked Mehul. Did I mention here that I have bought a new Juicer! We are loving the fresh juices on the weekends. I don't like the taste of any of the juices on the shelf, plus they add sugar and/or preservatives. I have tried so many brands over the years and not found a single juice I love. Plus I thought Mehul would really enjoy fresh juices as well but soon I found out that he doesn't like drinking juice from the sippy cups. Normal cups are ok for water (spills happen) but not for juice. He loves drinking from the juice box with a straw. I wanted to look for a cup with a straw. And I found them on Target. Yay! He finished a complete 6oz fresh juice for the first time this weekend!

Then, we went to Cosi for dinner. I had the TBM Sandwich (Tomato-Basil-Mozzarella) and DH had the Tandoori Chicken in a flatbread. He said it reminded him of India like none of the Indian restaurants do! Go figure. LOL! I had actually heard that from a former co-worker so I asked to go there so DH could try it. Glad he loved it :D

Saturday: We had an appointment with H&R Block for filing our tax returns. The weather was in 70s, perfect after a long winter! DH went for the appointment and Mehul and I hung around the house for a while. I only needed to be there to sign at the end as DH handles this anyway. I went there and found that they were still far from signing.

So, Mehul and I went on a 'walk' outside. I was walking and he was running. Kept on saying "Let's Run! Let's Run!" We went on a bicycle trail (W&OD trail for the locals) and 2 cyclists came from the front. Mehul was so excited. "Traffic on the Road! Bicycle!" He talks like this all the time as his sentence formation isn't quite there yet. It was sooo funny. Then we came out into the parking lot and there were lots of school buses there so we checked out a bus. From up close! Imagine how exciting that was! LOL! He is really into trucks and buses at the moment. The trains phase has passed.

One of our friends called us for dinner that night. Actually they have been calling for 2 weeks but we couldn't go because someone was always sick. Had a really nice evening. The weather couldn't have been better. We actually contemplated sitting outside on the deck but it had gotten a little chilly at night. Soon, though :)

Sunday: Low key day. Phone calls back home, cleaning, stitching (Yeah!), running, and scrapping. I kept up with the laundry this week so there was only one load left to do. I think I'll make this a habit. Takes some pressure off Sundays.

Working on my shorts muslin

I'm working on my shorts muslin for the Wardrobe contest. The pattern I have selected is something that has been in my stash for a while. I never even took it out of the envelope because I was afraid of what I call 'smile wrinkles'.

They are the wrinkles that form in the front and back crotch areas indicating there is a problem somewhere. So far, I thought my full tummy was a problem and it was not suited for a cute pattern like this, meaning I shouldn't wear cute shorts. WRONG! I have always noticed my RTW shorts ride up in the back, the side seams swing backwards giving a 'duck butt' kind of appearance. It happens to skirts as well but not to that degree. Also, my shorts inseams tend to 'walk upwards' when I move around.
I have been working on resolving the wrinkling problem since the beginning of January. Remember, this is the Year of the Pant for me? I want well fitting pants so I've been at it pretty much any chance I get. Here I'm showi…

Itch to Stitch blog tour 2018

It's time to sew Itch to Stitch
I am participating in the blog tour again this year. This is a time to sew Itch to Stitch patterns we've been meaning to make for long! I have had my eyes on Crystal Cove Cami since it released and the Angelia Shortswere on my #makenine2018! It was absolutely the easiest decision to participate in the blog tour and pick these 2 patterns. Itch to Stitch patterns are very well drafted, have precise yet detailed instructions. Kennis Wong is well respected in the industry for putting out top notch patterns. It is an absolute pleasure to sew ITS patterns!

One of the wonderful sponsors D&H fabrics sent me this beautiful Moonstone in blue (Atelier Brunette) fabric that I absolutely love! More info on the fabric below -

Before I go on with the construction details, I want to mention that both the Crystal Cove Cami and Angelia Shorts are on a FLASH SALE for 24 hours only! TODAY ONLY (9/20), you can get Crystal Cove Cami for $8 and and Angelia Shorts

Itch to Stitch blog tour Day 2

Sewing community is such a vast space spanning multiple continents and what brings everyone together is their love for sewing. When someone in this community is hurting, sewists all over the world come together to make it better. Our much loved designer, Kennis Wong - owner of Itch to Stitch Designs, was robbed a couple of weeks ago leaving her with no way to run her business. This blog tour is promoting Itch to Stitch patterns to make up for some of the monetary loss so she can be back on her feet and produce top notch quality patterns again!

I picked up the Newport top in the recent sale and wanted to make a nice top for this blog tour. I'm also really feeling the velvets this time of the year. Stylish Fabrics is one of the sponsors of this tour and I picked up mauve velvet and charcoal ponte to make my outfit.

The pinky mauve color is probably my all time favorite color for nail paint but I rarely wear clothes in this color. I'm not entirely s…
