Janice Boho Top by Wardrobe by me

Janice Boho Top by Wardrobe By Me

New pattern released by WBM - Janice Boho. It has that floaty, boho vibes we've been seeing a lot this summer. The sleeves really steal the show! Statement Sleeves have been such a trend this year. It will be perfect for going into fall.

Janice Boho, Size 10 graded to 14, 7/8 sleeve with Voilant (Bell) ruffle

Janice Boho in size 10. Gathered ruffle sleeve and ruffle hem.

Let's talk about the hem ruffle. It provides just the right amount of fluff without going too overboard. I used a lightweight chiffon for this garment. It is a wee bit see-through so I will be wearing it with a cami for work. It provides a great amount of drape though that is lovely with this pattern.

Janice Boho comes with two neckline options - O and V, 3 sleeve lengths - 3/4, 7/8, and Long sleeve, two gathered sleeve ruffle sizes - narrow and wide, and a bell shaped (voilant) sleeve. It has 2 bodice options too - with ruffle and without ruffle!

Still need more reasons by buy Janis? It can be made in woven or knit fabrics. Just makes sure to size down for knits! This top is so versatile, it is a must have in your pattern collection. I have a hack planned for a knit Janice that I can't wait to make and share. I honestly want many versions of this top in my closet already!

Even if you're not big into following trends on the runways, you must have seen the sleeves in stores. Some are super exaggerated and take a life of their own! These, however, are just enough to give it that flair without overwhelming your frame. Trust me, I'm 5'0. I don't want anything taking over my frame and this I feel hits just the right balance.

Basically Jalie blog tour

Basically Jalie Blog Tour - Day 2 (This post has been sponsored by Jalie Patterns. There is  a sewalong, rafflecopter, and amazing prizes to win so keep reading! )  Majority of what I wear are work/business casual outfits and hence that is majority of what I sew. I am always looking for cute woven tops to add to my rotation. I love making tunic tops especially now that I've learned to fit them. I never liked any store bought ill fitting and stiff feeling tops especially button-downs but now that I can make them and make them to fit, it is a whole different story! This blog-tour is for basics and I consider woven tops to be part of my daily basic wardrobe so that is what I made for this blog tour. This is the Rose blouse (Jalie 3881) in a woven crepe fabric I got recently from Sincerely Rylee. The fabric is gorgeous and so easy to work with.  I chose this top because of the bow. Let's be honest, we love blouses with bows! I have never been able to find a perf

Monster Tour

Sewing by Ti - Monster Tour It's October and that means it is time to make your little ones (or big ones!) Halloween costumes! Growing up in India we did not celebrate Halloween so when I first moved to the US and was living in an apartment, I was amazed at all the dress up and trick or treating concept. I made sure to buy tons and tons of candy because we got so many kids coming to our doorstep. While I didn't get into making costumes for me, I love making them for my kids :) My oldest is turning 14 tomorrow(already?!) and is no longer interested in Halloween and that made me a little sad. He says trick or treating is for little kids and I respect his choice in the matter. My 8 year old, however, wanted to dress up as a cat - a cute and cuddly one. She got one! She made an easy choice this year and was very involved in the designing of her costume. She is getting more and more interested in making her doll clothes and comes up with interesting shapes and experimen

Love Notions Lyric Dress

Love Notions Lyric Dress The dress I've been dreaming of is here :) I've wanted a very simple, button-down dress ever since I made the Jessica dress ( blogged here ). Jessica dress is great, but I wanted a full bodice so I don't have to wear a strapless bra. Enter, Love Notions Lyric ! How lovely is this dress? Of course, I had to go with my hoarded mustard rayon challis. I use mustard for A-List patterns. Lyric is one of them. The pattern comes with an A-line skirt and gathered skirt. There are various sleeve options including a very cute bell sleeve. I made the sleeveless version which is finished with a bias tape. Pattern notes: Made my standard petite adjustment by taking out 1" from the bodice and 1" from the skirt. Took in the waist a little. This was a test version and waist was adjusted slightly after this. I made a B cup bodice. I also did a .5" swayback adjustment to the back bodice. From a construction standpoint, I like tha
