Excited

Mummy papa land here in 40 minutes! We're off to the airport as soon as everyone is cleaned up and ready to go! There was some snafu with their seats and I'm hoping they got somewhat decent ones assigned at the airport. They're not carrying a cell phone so we couldn't ask.

I have been cleaning the house pretty much since morning. The last weekend was spent for work so the house wasn't nearly as clean as I'd like.

I'm ready to talk about last week now. I got a lot of appreciation for the work last week. And an out of turn bonus!! I wasn't expecting anything beyond making my co-working whom I substituted for (T), happy. T is extremely thankful as he was able to take his first vacation of the year, and is taking me out to lunch once he gets back from vacation. He said he wouldn't check his email on his vacation, but he did, just to know what happened last week! The work I did was originally assigned to him. He couldn't finish in time because of some scheduling error on someone else's part. I stepped up and took over his entire work (much of which was new to me, which explains 88 hours in my timesheet for the week). What can I say, I like challenges (LOL!) It turned out to be a bigger challenge when the machine he had configured was discovered to be throwing erros on something that was important for the work. It wasn't a matter of mere backup/recovery. That stuff hadn't worked in forever! We (I had help!) configured a brand new machine, got everything configured all over again, and finished in time for the customer demo. Everyone was pleased as demo went very well.

Best of all, I got to learn a bunch of new things, I got a compensatory off whenever I wanted (TODAY). Plus, a nice bonus just for this :) Sweet! On top of this, my coworker thinks the world of me if his email is any indication :) I'm such a people pleaser LOL!

I'm off to get M out of the bath and do something with my hair. 30 minutes to go!

Itch to Stitch blog tour 2018

It's time to sew Itch to Stitch
I am participating in the blog tour again this year. This is a time to sew Itch to Stitch patterns we've been meaning to make for long! I have had my eyes on Crystal Cove Cami since it released and the Angelia Shortswere on my #makenine2018! It was absolutely the easiest decision to participate in the blog tour and pick these 2 patterns. Itch to Stitch patterns are very well drafted, have precise yet detailed instructions. Kennis Wong is well respected in the industry for putting out top notch patterns. It is an absolute pleasure to sew ITS patterns!

One of the wonderful sponsors D&H fabrics sent me this beautiful Moonstone in blue (Atelier Brunette) fabric that I absolutely love! More info on the fabric below -

Before I go on with the construction details, I want to mention that both the Crystal Cove Cami and Angelia Shorts are on a FLASH SALE for 24 hours only! TODAY ONLY (9/20), you can get Crystal Cove Cami for $8 and and Angelia Shorts

Basically Jalie blog tour

Basically Jalie Blog Tour - Day 2

(This post has been sponsored by Jalie Patterns. There is  a sewalong, rafflecopter, and amazing prizes to win so keep reading! )

Majority of what I wear are work/business casual outfits and hence that is majority of what I sew. I am always looking for cute woven tops to add to my rotation. I love making tunic tops especially now that I've learned to fit them. I never liked any store bought ill fitting and stiff feeling tops especially button-downs but now that I can make them and make them to fit, it is a whole different story!

This blog-tour is for basics and I consider woven tops to be part of my daily basic wardrobe so that is what I made for this blog tour.

This is the Rose blouse (Jalie 3881) in a woven crepe fabric I got recently from Sincerely Rylee. The fabric is gorgeous and so easy to work with.
I chose this top because of the bow. Let's be honest, we love blouses with bows! I have never been able to find a perfect blouse with a f…

Love Notions Lyric Dress

Love Notions Lyric Dress

The dress I've been dreaming of is here :) I've wanted a very simple, button-down dress ever since I made the Jessica dress (blogged here). Jessica dress is great, but I wanted a full bodice so I don't have to wear a strapless bra. Enter, Love Notions Lyric!

How lovely is this dress? Of course, I had to go with my hoarded mustard rayon challis. I use mustard for A-List patterns. Lyric is one of them.

The pattern comes with an A-line skirt and gathered skirt. There are various sleeve options including a very cute bell sleeve. I made the sleeveless version which is finished with a bias tape.

Pattern notes: Made my standard petite adjustment by taking out 1" from the bodice and 1" from the skirt. Took in the waist a little. This was a test version and waist was adjusted slightly after this. I made a B cup bodice. I also did a .5" swayback adjustment to the back bodice.

From a construction standpoint, I like that the pattern has a waist…
