Love Notions Lyric Dress
The dress I've been dreaming of is here :) I've wanted a very simple, button-down dress ever since I made the Jessica dress (blogged here). Jessica dress is great, but I wanted a full bodice so I don't have to wear a strapless bra. Enter, Love Notions Lyric!
How lovely is this dress? Of course, I had to go with my hoarded mustard rayon challis. I use mustard for Shalinihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03210415988783359926noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29711702.post-15868047534614503682019-02-26T11:15:00.002-05:002019-02-26T11:55:54.771-05:00Four way top / cardigan hack

I have been loving crossover tops lately. They are super flattering on almost everyone and work well with skirts and pants. I saw this one on Pinterest and absolutely loved it. It can be worn as a top and a cardigan, and for someone who loves capsule wardrobes, this is the perfect addition!
I think it came out better than I expected! Majority of what I wear are work/business casual outfits and hence that is majority of what I sew. I am always looking for cute woven tops to add to my rotation. Make Nine 2018 Conclusion
2018 is coming to a close so I thought I would finish off my #makenine2018 with another make. I tested the Winter Wear Designs Satara Shirtdress and thought it would be the perfect shirtdress for me. What I like about this one in particular is the collar. I dislike the traditional collar on shirts / shirtdresses and jumped when I saw the sample image of this dress. Mirri Faux Wrap dress by Wardrobe by me
I finished another item for my Make Nine 2018 challenge making it 5th item completed. This time it is a black faux wrap dress. It's one of those pieces that show up in a lot of capsule wardrobes because it's such a classy piece. I didn't have any handmade wrap dresses and this is why I had added it to my challenge for this year!

It's October and that means it is time to make your little ones (or big ones!) Halloween costumes! I'm not doing so great with the #2018makenine. I started out with this challenge in January and thought I should have no trouble with making NINE items. I mean, I am on track to making at least 100 items this year (currently at 80!). How hard could these 9 items be? Turns out, the issue is having to stick to the vision you had at the beginning of the year and Shalinihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03210415988783359926noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29711702.post-6039928041694861472018-09-13T07:00:00.000-05:002018-10-22T21:07:30.217-05:00Itch to Stitch blog tour 2018
It's time to sew Itch to Stitch
I am participating in the blog tour again this year. This is a time to sew Itch to Stitch patterns we've been meaning to make for long! It feels good to be blogging regularly again. I have been sewing as usual but not blogging my makes for the last couple months. I had some issues with the image hosting server and it took some time to iron those out. I have a backlog of images to go through.

I'm working on my shorts muslin for the Wardrobe contest. The pattern I have selected is something that has been in my stash for a while. I never even took it out of the envelope because I was afraid of what I call 'smile wrinkles'.

This has partially been due to a number of pattern tests I involved myself in the beginning of January and partially due to getting overwhelmed at the prospect of doing a big collage or writeup of everything I did in 2017. My Fall/Winter capsule for 2017 is finally complete! The idea had been floating around in my head since spring when I was working on the Spring/Summer capsule. I really wanted to do a Fall/Winter version because it is so much more fun with the accessories. Finally in late summer I put my ideas together on a page and came up with the following inspiration picture -

This is my most favorite jeans I have made thus far! It is Simplicity 8222 pattern by designer Mimi G. It comes with a quilted bomber jacket pattern as well that I will make some day. What makes this my favorite is the stretch denim I used by Simpli by Ti! The denim has 25% horizontal stretch and is mid weight. It is very comfortable to wear.
